Habitat: Epiphyte forming dense, sparsely distributed clumps, in the understory of Atlantic Ombrophilous dense Forest, 380-950 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name of this new species is a direct reference to the unusual color combination of its inflorescence: the orange color of its rachis, ovary, and sepals, based on the Latin word aurantius, meaning orange color, plus lilacinus, meaning lilac, the color of its petals
