Habitat: saxicolous and heliophyte, occurring on rocky outcrops and escarpments

Etymology: The specific epithet pays tribute to Leopoldo Witeck Neto, Professor at Colégio Politécnico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, who discovered several populations of this new species and encouraged their study.
