Type: Colombia: Dept. Caquetá, Municipio Solano, Sito Sabanas del yari, margen izquierda, 35 a 40 mínutos desde el chorro de Gamitana, 00°30’S, 072°40’W, on rock outcrop, growing in dense cushions in exposed areas of the outcrop. Very abundant. 5 March 1997. Arbeláez, M.V., G. Zumaeta 784 (holotype U, isotypes HUA, COAH, COL, MO)

Distribution: Colombia: Caquetá

Habitat: on rock outcrop, growing in dense cushions in exposed areas of the outcrop, ca 150 m. Elev.

Etymology: This species is named after ‘Sabanas del Yarí’, the area where the type was collected.
