Distribution: BRAZIL: Goiás
Habitat: terrestrial grow in small colonies, mostly in the highest mountainous areas in the transition points from a highland campo cerrado to the campo rupestre, in gravel or on gravelly-loamy soils in marginal areas next to rock, ca 780-800 m. Elev.
Etymology: The new species is named after the couple Beate and Karl-Heinz Tank from Neuruppin (Germany), who made a decisive contribution to the knowledge of the species.
Phenology: Dyckia tankiorum flowers at the type locality in October and November, but a few ripe fruits indicate that individual plants also begin to flower much earlier.
