Natural hybrid: Tillandsia complanata and Tillandsia cyanea

Type: COSTA RICA. Prov. of Heredia: north of San Isidro, at the end of Calle Chilillal, alt. ca 1,660 m a.s.l., 10°02’42.498’’N, 84°02’39.927’’W, pastures with woodland, leg. 2 August 2015, E.J. Gouda & R. Gouda 15-2299 (holo CR, iso U).

Distribution: Costa Rica: Heredia

Habitat: epiphytically on trees in woodland pastures, 1660 m. Elev.

Etymology: The species epithet ‘complanea’ is a composed name from the species epithets of the two parental taxa, compla(nata) plus (cya)nea.

Phenology: As far as we know the blooming period of Tillandsia × complanea is from July to August.
