Type: MEXICO. Puebla, municipio de Tepexi de Rodríguez, aproximadamente 4.5 km al noreste de Tepexi de Rodríguez, rumbo a Agua de Luna (18o36’41.8”N, 97o53’56”W), 1673 m, 20 August 2020, R.Hernández-Cárdenas, S. Lara-Godínez & A. Hernández-Rábago 2443$ (holotype: UAMIZ!).

Distribution: Mexico: Puebla

Habitat: terrestrially in xerophilous scrub vegetation, 1600-1660 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the appearance of the inflorescences which are similar to those present in the species of the genus Dasylirion.

Phenology: Plants bloom from August to September.
