Distribution: Brazil: Goiás

Habitat: growing terrestrial in stony substrate, are exposed to full sunshine all day or they are protected a bit by the shadow of grasses or accompanying low trees on a hill of xerophilous campo rupestre vegetation, ca 780 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name altoana refers to the habitat near the city of Alto Paraiso de Goiás

Phenology: As far as we know the flowering period of Dyckia altoana is from March to May.
