Habitat: grows epiphytically in trees in the edges of forests, 580 m. Elev.

Etymology: The epithet “museunacionalii” is the genitive latinized form of the fused Portuguese words “Museu Nacional”, in honor to that institution, which belongs to the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. The holotype of this species was collected on the exact day the Museum was celebrating its 205th anniversary.

Phenology: We observed the initial fruiting season and the final flowering season in June. Thus, the flowering period of V. museunacionalii is in the first semester, while the fruiting peak is in the second semester. During the collections performed in the beginning of June, we observed a few specimens in the final stage of flowering, with the remainder beginning to fruit.
