Distribution: BRAZIL; Minas Gerais,

Habitat: saxicole in Campos Rupestres, partially protected from direct sunlight by shrubs and short trees., 1400 m. Elev.

Etymology: Vriesea claudiana is named after the botanist and bromeliad specialist Claudio Coelho de Paula, coordinator of the “Unidade de Pesquisa e Conservação de Bromeliaceae” of the “Departamento de Biologia Vegetal”, Federal University of Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, and responsible for the description of many new bromeliad species from Minas Gerais.

Phenology: It was observed in full bloom during December.
