Distribution: BRAZIL: Rio de Janeiro
Habitat: saxicolous on steep rock faces, on the edge of the Atlantic rainforest, ca 600 m. Elev.
Etymology: The name ‘montserratina’ refers to the place where the plant was found on the Pedra do Paraibuna in the Mont Serrat subdistrict of the municipality of Comendador Levy Gasparin.
Phenology: In cultivation, the plant begins to flower in early spring (February– March). No exact information can be given about the flowering time at the home location, but it should be in early spring (August– September).in the southern hemisphere
