Distribution: BRAZIL: Bahia

Habitat: saxicolous on an inselberg

Etymology: The specific epithet is a reference to the municipality of Itatim, Bahia state, where T. itatiensis was collected.

Phenology: The blooming season starts in September, and some blooming specimens can be found until October. The flower remains opened for two days, with anthesis starting at 5 a.m.
