Habitat: epiphyte in remnant trees of the destroyed forest, ca 1660 m. Elev.
Etymology: The epithet is a combination of that of the putative parents T. fendleri and T. complanata
Phenology: Tillandsia x fendlanata flowers during the rainy period, from October through May.
