Habitat: epiphyte in remnant trees in pastures, ca 1660 m. Elev.

Etymology: The epithet is a combination of that of the putative parents, T. clavigera and T. complanata

Phenology: Tillandsia x clavinata flowers during the rainy period, from October through May.
