Distribution: Peru: Amazonas

Habitat: Epiphyte in montane cloud forest, in the Andean-Amazonian ecotone, a transitional zone where humid air from the Amazon condenses on steep Andean slopes, 2100-2450 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet rufescens (Latin: “becoming reddish” or “tinged with red”) alludes to the orange–reddish coloration of the floral bracts and sepals, which represents a distinctive character of the species and readily separates it from its closest relatives.

Phenology: Flowering plant was observed in September
