Habitat: epiphyte on the lower to median branches of the trees in an Atlantic Forest fragment, ca 1010 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name chosen for this new species honors its collector, the bromeliad and orchid grower Reginaldo Vasconcelos Leitão, from Minas Gerais, who brought to our attention this unusual species and provided the specimens used in this study, as well as field information
