Distribution: Colombia: Valle del Cauca:

Habitat: Terrestrial in semi-open shrubby vegetation within páramo ecosystems, on inclined, rocky terrain subjected to constant strong winds. It forms clumps of clonal individuals and establishes dense populations locally, 3300–3600 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the type locality of the species in Farallones de Cali National Natural Park, Colombia.

Phenology: Puya farallonensis was observed flowering in May, and fruiting from May onwards.
