Etymology: I named this beautiful species from the Atlantic forest of Bahia as a tribute to Kerry Herndon, president of the firm Kerry's Bromeliads Nursery, Inc., located in Florida, USA. Kerry Herndon's appreciation of the importance of disseminating taxonomic research made the publication of this book possible.

Phenology: It flowers mainly in the month of December.
