Type: Type: Brasil, Espirito Santo, Municipio de Vitoria, 15-90 m alt., cerca de 3/4 de milha do mar, em formacoes rochosas, col. M B. Foster & R. Foster 193, 12:VII.1939, fl. e fr. (holotype GH -note - In the protologue of this species there was, probably, a typographicalerror and the holotype was mentioned for the herbarium of Geneva (G). However, this material is deposited in Harvard University herbarium(GH), as it has already been recorded in Smith & Downs (1974). n.v., photo SPF)

Phenology: Specimens in flower and fruit were obtained in the month of July.
