Distribution: BRAZIL: Maranhao

Habitat: rupicolous in cerrado vegetation, 170 - 350 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet is an homage to the State of Maranhão, where the species is endemic

Phenology: The species was collected with flowers in November. However, when in cultivation, the new species flowered in March.
