Etymology: The species is named after Prof. Christian Lexer (1971-2019), evolu­tionary biologist and geneticist from the University of Vienna, who dedicated a great part of his career to understanding plant speciation and evolution, particularly of bro­meliads

Phenology: Flowering from January to February
