Distribution: BRAZIL: Rio de Janeiro

Habitat: Rupicolous, forming sparse heliophylous populations on plateaus of exposed granite rock in the Atlantic forest, ca 400 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet chosen is a reference to the intermediary appearance of this new species. While its inflorescence resembles Alcantarea heloisae, the color of peduncle bracts resembles A. delicata

Phenology: Flowering from January to February.
