• Guzmania fragrans has been cited by Carriere as a synonym of Hohenbergia ferruginea Carrière, which is considered a synonym of Hohenbergia augusta (Vell.) E.Morren. Both names are older than G.fragrans. (Carriere: Revue Hort. 53: 437, fig. 104. 1881)
