Taxonomic Change:
- Not accepted as new combination in Ochagavia as intended by Mez, because Bromelia lindleyana is invalid and therefore not available as a basonym —See Smith & Downs 1979 p. 1531
- Per Zizka et al. the publication of the name Ochagavia lindleyana Mez fulfilled all requirements for a valid publication of a new name, the name is regarded as published by Mez, not as a new combination. Lectotype designated: Chile, Colchagua, Gay 155 (P!). Treated as a synonym of Ochagavia litoralis. —See Zizka et al. 2002 p. 340
- Because Bromelia carnea Beer was included as a synonym by Mez, Ochagavia carnea has priority over Ochagavia lindleyana Mez. O. lindleyana is an illegitimate and superflous name that is automatically typified under icn 7.5 by the type of B. carnea; the lectotype is incorrectly designated by Zizka et all. 2002. —See Gouda et al. 2018-2022
