- Habitat and distribution: The new species described herein has its habitats in the Northeast of the Goias state, district of Sao Domingos. It grows among rocks in a dense vegetation, in dispersed habitats along the Serra Geral de Goias in an altitude of 850 meters. It occurs principally between trees on soil of Biome Cerrado of Goias State and in the adjacent areas of Bahia and Tocantins states, sympatric with some Bromeliaceae as Bromelia villosa Mez, Aechmea sp., Dyckia pauciflora L.B. Sm., Encholirium sp. and Tillandsia sp., furthermore, with the very interesting Cactaceae, the dwarf Pilosocereus parvus (Diers & Esteves) P.J. Braun.
Primarily in adjacent areas of Bahia, grain agriculture is in full expansion and, as usual, by using pesticides and other agrochemicals intensively and certainly, in the near future, the diversity of that region will be seriously damaged. Due to this fact, immediate governmental action is needed to prevent the extinction of these small but important habitats. —See Esteves et al. 2013b
