Distribution and ecology: only known from the town of the type, a rocky and sharp hillside, sharing their habitat with other Bromeliads of the genusr Tillandsia and several species of columnar Cactaceae, likewise dispersed bushes of Escallonia resinosa (Grossulariaceae) and Baccharis sp. (Asteraceae). During the rainy season herbaceous vegetation grows, especially Poaceae.
