- The living holotype descendant (cult. E. Leme 7966) is cultivated in the living collection of the Rio de Janeiro Botanic Garden, as well as in Refúgio dos Gravatás, in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro. Aechmea paratiensis is only known from the type collection. It was found growing as an epiphyte in the lowland Atlantic Forest facing Praia de Antigos, at Parati, Rio de Janeiro State, and strongly influenced by the ocean proximity. —See Pereira 1971
