- Hechtia zamudioi is known only from the municipalities of San Joaquin, Penamiller and Pinal de Amoles in the basin of river Estorax, inthe state of Queretaro. The species grows in cliffs and walls of canyons of calcareous rocks, practically covering the whole surface. It is strange that in spite of the abundance of the populations and of the conspicuous nature of the species, this it has passed unnoticed up to now (Zamudio, 1984) —See Acta Bot. Mex.
