Until now, this pretty, small plant was only known from the vicinity of the city Chachapoyas. It grows in a much moister climate than otherwise expected for T. tectorum. Its companion plants were an exceptionally large-scaled, small form of T. humilis C. Presl and T. tovarensis Mez, both typical inhabitants of moist and cool altitudes. —SeeDie Bromelie
