Distribution & Habitat
Very little is known about this new species. The only data available come from the type specimen, also the source of the only existing clone in cultivation. According to the collector, N. ferrugineum was found in an area of Atlantic forest near Linhares, Espirito Santo, which is slightly beyond the northernmost occurrence of N. bicolor, its nearest relative. —SeeLeme 2000a
