Although T. roetingii until now is only known from the type locality, it can be taken, that there other areas in Peru. Already in 1971 we found in the valley of Oxapampa, central Peru. Junin, a similar brown leaved Tillandsia, however without flower, in same type of mountain-forest, from which plants similar to T. roetingii can be found. I have been unable to link this plant with any Peruvian relatives. —SeeRauh 1973-1991
