OBSERVATIONS. Two populations of P. carnososepala have been found in the province of Sucumbios, in spite of the fact that the type was found in the province of Pastaza. One population was found between Gonzalo Pizarro and Lumbaqui and the other between Lago Agrio and Parayacu.
Obviously there was some confusion about two plants collected by Dr. Rauh. The type of P. carnososepala was described as found in the province of Pastaza, but, populations have been found only in the province of Sucumbios, and the type of P. elvirae was described as found in Sucumbios while the populations are registered in Pastaza.
P. carnososepala is related to P. elvirae, the differences being the wide leaves of P. carnososepala 11 cm wide (versus 8 cm wide), smooth pedicels and sepals (versus verrucose), and the pedicels 20 mm long (versus 16 mm long) . —SeeManzanares 2005p. 465
