Comment by Pereira - If one considers only the details of the flowers, this new species differs from T. stricta Solan., however the dark purplish inflorescence, the habit of the plant, its quite erect leaves, with capilliform blade, and the shape of the scales made us consider it as a separate species, which we dedicate to Mr. Alvim Seidel who is giving a very good contribution in the discovery of a new species in the Bromeliaceae. —SeeBradea
