We are growing two plants, the clonotype and a much larger plant from about 15 km away of the type location. The clonotype has more erect contiguous floral bracts and therefor narrower spikes. In the other the floral bracts apices are free of each other and the spikes are wider. A pollen test of the clonotype shows 25% germination, the other one only 10% of irregular sized pollen against 90% in the blanco (T.xiphioides var. lutea), indicating that this species could well be a natural hybrid, but of what parents?
