P. decurvata also comes from Peru, in Dept. Lambayeque and up to now, is known only from the type locality, Olmos-Maranon Highway.
Typical for this Pitcairnia is the prefloral nodding inflorescence and only in the basal section are the flowers secund.
The plants grow in large clumps, above the village Canchaque hanging on rocky-stones and growing in a thick, black, in the rainy season strongly soaked humus layer.
Under the same number, at the same location, a plant was collected that deviated from the type and should be described as a variety. —SeeRauh 1973-1991
