In its habitat, Orthophytum estevesii forms dense, medium-sized populations on slightly inclined rocky surfaces, partially covered by a thin layer of organic soil, completely exposed to sunlight, or sometimes having some shade protection by nearby shrubs. Its habitat is situated in the Atlantic Forest and the three known collections of O estevesii indicate that it is an endemic species. —SeeJ. Bromeliad Soc.
