• Distribution & Habitat
  Nidularium campos-portoi var robustum grows from near sea level to around 300 m altitude. It forms large terrestrial populations concentrated in coastal Rio de Janeiro and on the Sao Paulo border. More commonly found in swamp forests,it also inhabits mangrove transition zones in estuaries such as Mambucaba, Rio de Janeiro. This variety flowers in December and January.The two clones in cultivation have maintained the traits that differentiate this taxon from the type variety. —See Leme 2000a
