Taxonomic Change:
- Considered a synonym of Billbergia saundersii Bull. because the name was not intentionally published ("incidental mention" in the ICBN code). This "incidental mention" has been removed from the code. The description given is sufficient to make the publication (1871) of the name valid, see Smith & Downs 1979 and is followed here. (R.W. - Considered the name not validly published and a synonym of Billbergia saundersii Hort. Bull. (following Baker 1889). —See Mez 1935
