Comments:
- There appears to be certain altitudinal limits to the varieties of P. killipiana recognized here. Both varieties are known from the Department of Choco, Colombia. The typical variety was reported from an altitudinal range of 200-275 m (TYPE: Killip 35245!), whereas, the new variety was collected from a range of 1000-1150 m (Forero et al. 3248!) in western Colombia. This distribution suggests an ecotypic difference between the varieties. —See Syst. Bot.
