- A. scapigera is cultivated in the botanical garden of the University of Heidelberg under the number B.G.H. 50842 and already has flowered several times. Mrs. Lotte HROMADNIK, Kritzendorf, Osterreich, notes that A. scapigera grows on steep cliffs with Parodia maxima, Blossfeldia cf. liliputana, Cleistocactus tupizensis, Tillandsia lotteae, (southerly location), and other tillandsias.
Through the work of R. and L. HROMRADNIK two further Abromeitiella have been found, and accordingly a key to 4 species is as follows:
1. Rosettes very small, 2-3 cm in the diameter, thick, building compact cushions. Leaf edge toothed. Flower green brevifolia
- rosettes larger than 3 cm in the diameter 2
2. Leaf edge not or only sparsely toothed, grey lepidote. Flowers green lorentziana
- leaf at the edge strongly toothed 3
3. Inflorescence sessile, stemless. Flowers brown; leaf upperside green, glabrous lotteae
- Inflorescence to 4 cm long stemmed. flower yellow, green tipped; leaf upperside grey lepidote scapigera —See Rauh 1973-1991
