Taxonomic Change:

• Considered a synonym of Greigia oaxacana Lyman B Smith.
  The character used to distinguish Greigia oaxacana from Greigia juareziana (serrated primary bracts vs. entire) is quite variable and is a major reason why these two taxa should be treated as sympatric co-specific. —See Utley & Burt-Utley 1994 p. 6: 148
• Considered a different species as Greigia oaxacana L.B. Smith, and from Chiapas it is only G. juareziana. —See Espejo et al. 2017 p. 63
