Distribution & Habitat
Nidularium kautskyanum is endemic to the mountains of Espirito Santo in Alfredo Chaves and Venda Nova do Imigrante municipalities. Its populations are scattered over the forested slopes, especially in cloud forests at altitudes of about 900 to 1,000 m, in areas where the soil consists of coarse quartzitic sand. It lives in the litter of the forest floor or as an epiphyte on lower tree trunks and branches. There are about three different clones in cultivation, but the species is not protected in any public conservation unit —SeeLeme 2000a
