- Distribution & habitat
Nidularium apiculatum is endemic to the Itatiaia region where it is protected in Atatiaia National Park. It is more frequent in the forest understory of this park where it grows as an epiphyte or among rocks in deep, moist shade. It apparently has a wider distribution than N. itatiaiae, although it occurs at similar altitudes between 700 and 1,200 m.
It is still quite rare in cultivation, although there are about three clones available. —See Leme 2000a
