Comments:
- A sterile collection from Cerro Venamo at 1100 m elevation (Steyermark & Nilsson 437, VEN) may represent this species.
Variety angustior was originally distinguished by having narrower leaves, but the numerous collections made subsequently show that there is considerable variation in leaf width. The type collection of var. angustior from Auyan-tepui, Steyermark et al. 116180 (holotype, US), however, differs slightly from typical populations by having a more robust inflorescence and inflorescence branches with longer fertile portions.
Tepui summits along stream margins, tepui escarpment faces and talus slopes, edges of Bonnetia roraimae forests, 1800-2600 m; Bolivar (Aparaman-tepui, Apradatepui, Auyan-tepui, Kamarkawarai-tepui, Kukenan-tepui, Macizo del Chimanta [Amuritepui, Churi-tepui, Sarven-tepui]). Guyana (Mount Roraima slopes). —See Steyermark, Holst et al. 1989
