• he makes var alba and var variegata same as type. I reckon he feels that var alba is a one off mutation and var variegata is not a var, because it does not reproduce from seed. Neither would survive phytogenetics scrutiny. Both should be treated as cultivars being reproduced asexually. —See Utley & Burt-Utley 1994 p. 139
