Tillandsia utriculata L.
Taxonomic Change:
- A neotype is designated for this species. The type citation in Smith & Downs 1977 is erroneous. While Linnaeus had visited Hans Sloane in London, he was not able to study the more than 250 volumes of his herbarium (the basis of the BM herbarium). This had extensively been explained by Stearns in the introductory chapters of the facsimile edition (Rya Society) of Species plantarum 1753.
