Comments:
- I feel that many of these things are good species but hard to define based solely on gross morphology. Venospica may be a Greater Antilles endemic. HEL p. personal communication Harry Luther
- NOTE. In Jamaica this taxon appears to be a distinct species, Tillandsia compressa, with constant characters of large, beaked, nerved floral bracts that darken on drying. According to Proctor it even has a different flowering season. Yet elsewhere its characters are not stable and consequently in viewing it as a whole I am forced to consider it a variety. —See Mez 1935
