• This taxon is conspecific with the type variety and the name Tillandsia fendleri should be conserved and this taxa will have a new name (Eric Gouda)
• Culture and use: Not known in cultivation, can be an interesting species because of the large orange spikes, and relatively small plant size. —See Gouda 1987
