Puya angelensis up to now, is known only from the type locality. It has also been found there by H E Luther, Marie Selby Botanical Garden but not flowering (written communication).
When collecting the plant, we did observe that the ice-blue flowers were visited by a Kolibri; and even after we had removed the specimen for herbarium purposes, the Kolibri still flew around for at least a half hour in order to look for its feed-plant. —SeeRauh 1973-1991
