- OBSERVATIONS. P. brongniartina forms dense groups around the base of tree trunks in primary forests or trunks remaining in pastures. The inflorescence is not striking and can be confused with the color of the tree bark in its habitat.
The original description of P. brongniartina var. scandens states that it was found near the Canande River near Quinande in the province of Napo-Pastaza. Actually, it was found near the city of Quininde, near the river with the same name, in the province of Esmeraldas in the Coastal region. Pastaza is in the Amazon Region.
