Taxonomy:—Guzmania altsonii Resurected from synonymy of Guzmania pleiosticha (p.20).—Guzmania lingulata Lectotype designated: Jamaica, Sloane, plate (plate based on a specimen in Herb. Sloane 3: 101, BM) (p.21).—Guzmania lingulata var. minor Considered to be synonym with the type variety. (p.23).—Guzmania lingulata var. splendens Treated as a synonym of Guzmania lingulata (L.) Mez Longitudinal red lines on the leaves or leaf sheaths is a very variable characteristic at least in populations within the Guianas and are not of much use to separate varieties. (p.21).—Guzmania minor Populations of G.lingulata in the Guianas has proved that the size is not very useful for separating varieties or even on species level. There are populations in C.America that deserves to be recognized as a variety of G.lingulata, but good characteristics has to be found and compared with the type of G.minor (p.21).—Guzmania pleiosticha Comb. nov. in Vriesea (p.82).—Guzmania sphaeroidea Considered a synonym of Guzmania sphaeroidea (André) André (p.28).—Guzmania venamensis Considered a sysnonym of Guzmania sphaeroidea (André) André ex Mez (p.28).—Tillandsia archeri Listed as synonym of Tillandsia turneri Baker (p.66).—Tillandsia duidae Transferred to Vriesea (p.72).—Vriesea pachychlamys Considered a synonym of Vriesea gladioliflora Wendland (p.74).
